Blackbird Heritage

I'm writing this post specifically to call attention to my dear friends, Andy & Sherri Roddick's farm- Blackbird Heritage. The farm is located in Townsend, Delaware and offers a large variety of heirloom vegetables, herbs and flowers. If you live in their area, then you can even sign up to be a part of their CSA. They are super close to Philadelphia so don't be shy about asking if you can be a part of this.

I really like the idea of being able to support local farmers, as well as eat food that is healthier and offers a broad variety. The heirloom vegetables are high in quality and taste better than those purchased at your grocery. It also allows them the ability to save seeds, which can be beneficial for many reasons.

If you would like to know more information, or know someone who would be interested in this then please pass along the following link. It will take you to their website, which gives a better description of heirloom and sustainability. It also gives a listing of the local markets that they attend each week, in case you are interested in stopping by and purchasing that way.

We can all agree that as humans we should strive to put the best foods possible into our bodies to avoid sickness, malnutrition, and disease. Why not do it with people who understand this and strive to make it the best quality possible.

If you are not in their area and would like to know more information about how to find an organic co-op, farmers market, or farm then check out this website. It is so important to support local businessowners. So why wait? Do it today. You'll be happy you did!!!
